This is forbidden (haram). Scholars have ruled that the only time abortion is permissible is when the mother's life is in danger. Follow-up Question: What if modern genetic counseling prove that the unborn child will have an abonormality? Otherwise, even if the child will have an "abnormality" the child must be given a chance to live. The child will still be a human being, and every human being has the right of life, property, and honor. What type of Ummah would we have if we "weeded out" those who may have physical or mental handicaps? |
