Every human being is capable of committing sins, and it is only Allah who can save anyone from sinning. If the question, however, is "Did any prophets commit sins?" the answer is a definitive: no. All prophets, from Adam (upon whom be peace) to Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) were ma'sum (sinless). This is confirmed by the majority of Muslim scholars, while a minority hold that prophets can commit minor sins only. All prophets were so pure and God-fearing that sinning did not even enter into their minds. Prophets are the examples for humanity, and their deeds and actions become our religious practice (sunnah). If we were to truly follow our sinful prophets in everything, we would be following their good deeds along with their transgressions. To prevent this, Allah protected His prophets from sin. |
